Hi! I've read some posts about some people here about wanting a Herbie Archive. What is a Herbie? If this is Herbie the Love Bug I think that would be cool.

No relation to the aforementioned Volkswagen.

Here's a nice overview: http://www.toonopedia.com/herbie.htm

Not quite Herbie the Love Bug!
Here's a good write-up about Herbie: http://www.toonopedia.com/herbie.htm
and here's a link to his superhero exploits as The Fat Fury: http://www.toonopedia.com/fatfury.htm

The Herbie books were very well done.Pretty different from anything else ever done in comics (or any medium, for that matter!)If you want a sample, Dark Horse published a 2 issues of color reprints in the early 90s and another company printed them as well, though in black and white. I often see them in quarter bins.

Ogden Whitney was another of those fine comic-book artists whom hardly anyone except a few of us old farts remembers. His Skyman stories in Columbia's BIG SHOT are swell (and BIG SHOT itself is something of an overlooked treasure trove, as it also featured Sparky Watts by Boodie Rogers and The Face/Tony Trent by Mart Bailey). In the A.C.G. books, Whitney held his own against Kurt Schaffenberger and Pete Costanza; he also did some No-Man stories which ought to be turning up in THE T.H.U.N.D.E.R. AGENTS ARCHIVES before too much longer. A collection of his Herbie stories would be most welcome.

If Herbie Popnecker were lying on his back, his silhouette might be mistaken as Herbie the Love Bug.

Gonna bop you with this lollipop!

I was just thinking earlier this week that Herbie and Powerhouse Pepper were at the absolute top of my Dream Archive list, along with Little Lulu.

Last week I bought Fantagraphics' Powerhouse Pepper collection and it is great stuff! You can order it directly from Fantagrahics.com for $6.00.
Wolverton was so unique. Nobody had the manic sense of humor he did. It's interesting you'd think of Herbie and Powerhouse together since their styles are almost totally different. Herbie's so deadpan and subtle, while Powerhouse is whacko!
